Hair grows in three different main stages: Anagen, Catagen, and Telogen. Only hair that is in the Anagen stage of growth, known as the first stage, can be successfully removed for permanent hair reduction.
The hand piece of the Velocity Plus is placed on the skin, causing the light of the laser energy to pulse through the skin and be absorbed by the hair. The pulsed light energy causes heat strong enough to damage the hair shaft and follicle, stopping its ability to produce new hair without damaging the surrounding skin.
The average number of treatments varies with skin and hair type. Generally 5-7 treatments are all that is required. Due to hair growth cycles, it is recommended that treatments be 30 days apart.
